For the past couple of months I've been rewriting the android companion app for Music Boss, now called Music Boss Deluxe. It will be an all inclusive app with no extra addons in it and will support the new Music Boss Classic, Music Boss Sport and Music Boss Time (formerly Music Time Interactive) watch apps. Once I got the new Music Boss Deluxe companion android app rewritten to a nearly completed state I got started on reworking the pebble apps, starting with Music Boss Time. I decided to tackle this one first because I was really looking forward to getting album art to display on the OG Pebble (platform Aplite).

The Music Boss Time UI on Aplite looks a little different than the UI on the other platforms due to hardware limitations, but it's pretty nifty nonetheless. For the other platforms I've added all new features to bring even more of your album art into focus (remembering the old bar that went right across the middle of the screen, still an option but no longer the default interface). 

I'll be shredding my way through the other two apps in the coming weeks and will be working on all the help pages to make sure users hit the ground running. The new companion app also includes a little helper, or "BossBud" who dishes out useful info to keep you informed on all the features available in the android and watch apps.

Starting mid 2025, the legacy watch apps will no longer be compatible with new versions of Music Boss Deluxe or Music Time (watch face). The legacy Android apps are no longer compatible with modern versions of Android and will be left in the past where they've sat since 2016. I am working on new/updated Android and Pebble OS apps for Music Boss and Music Time. Click here for more details.

​If you are still using an old phone and want to keep using your legacy Android and Pebble Apps, please feel free to do so, however the Pebble/Rebble AppStore will be focused on new versions of the watch apps compatible with the new Android Apps. If you previously downloaded Music Boss/Music Time from the Google Play Store, you can still do so with older phones, new phones are incompatible and cannot install the apps.  

Many people may be wondering if the original version of Music Boss circa 2013-2016 is still compatible with their new phones in 2025.The legacy version of Music Boss contains old APIs and certain elements that violate Google Play Store policies. The app ran its course back in the original Pebble days and after Pebble sold to Fitbit it was right around the time my life got extremely busy with family and other priorities. I stepped away from development and the app was left in its 2016 state.

The legacy version of the Music Boss Android App will be left in this state to allow people who purchased it in the past to continue using it on phones that support it. It is not compatible with new phones and the Google Play Store will prevent you from installing it. As I continue to revive the Music Boss ecosystem.

Reviving an old application, especially one that hasn't been touched in 8 years has proven to be quite a daunting task. I've been working tirelessly to rebuild it from scratch with a modern user interface, new features, optimizations and more. This will be a new app, not an update to the old app. 

I appreciate your interest and all the support you showed in the past. If you choose to continue supporting development you won't be disappointed. I've already created a really fun experience that I can't wait to share with you all. This will improve the user experience of the app and make it easier to understand the features and power of the various Music Boss Pebble OS Watch apps. Once I've reached the feature scope I am targeting for the Android App, I'll be reworking the Music Boss Pebble OS apps as well to allow them to take advantage of the new companion app features from 2025 forward.

Thanks for dropping by to check out the updates. I am still just getting things setup and working really hard on reviving the apps. Reviving a piece of software that hasn't been touched in 8 years has been interesting.
